Unity has a long established reputation for its provision of excellent educational service to both its workplace representatives and its members in general.
In conjunction with the TUC, the GFTU, and our local colleges (TUC) – we are able to provide a wide and varied educational programme.
Our members can also take advantage of computer courses that are held in the evenings, and provided by local TUC centres.
The General Federation of Trade Unions Educational Trust is a further source of education that is available to Unity members. The Trust was set up in 1971 and it finances additional educational activities for trade unionists. These courses cover a huge number of topics of interest and are very well attended by Unity members.
These are residential courses that are held at weekends at various venues throughout the country.
Unity is committed to working with local colleges and other providers of education to enable our members to enhance their education in literacy, in numeracy, and in other skills. Agreement is reached with employers to provide time off and other facilities. These courses are again, extremely well attended.
